What to do:
1. Log on to the Dear America Writers Workshop section of Kids Fun Online. Click on the Our Diary link.

2. Read the current entry from the diary of Rebecca Harris, a 12-year-old girl living in Salem, Massachusetts, during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. You can also read entries from previous weeks.

3. Together with your child, plan what you think happens next. The story should be based on real events, so you might want to use the library or the Internet to find out additional information.

4. Write your entry and submit it to Scholastic.com.

5. Every week a new entry is posted online, so check back to see if yours has been selected.
