1. Bats can fly.
2. Bats navigate by listening to sonar echoes.
3. The bumblebee bat is the smallest bat in the world. It weighs less than a penny.
4. Hundreds, even thousands.
5. Depending on the kind of bat, it can eat fruit, nectar, blood, insects, fish, or meat.
6. Megabats are sometimes called flying foxes.
7. It has three large white spots on its back. It also has very large ears!
8. Any two of the following: bats help control the insect population; they help farmers by eating insects that would hurt crops; bats spread seeds for new plants and trees; the saliva of Vampire Bats is being studied by doctors for use in medicines.
