The Breaking Barriers: In Sports, In Life educational program teaches the significance of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball in 1947, as well as teaching the values he exhibited in his life. At the heart of the program is the Breaking Barriers Essay Contest in which students have an opportunity to write about their own barriers. Look for:

Essay Contest
In this essay contest, students write about their own barriers. Prizes include a trip to the 2009 Major League Baseball® All-Star Game®, and laptop computers for students and teachers. (All entries must be postmarked by March 2, 2009.)
