1. Reform, Recruit, and Retain
The Braitmayer Foundation
provides up to $35,000 for
innovative professional development opportunities for teachers, particularly those programs that encourage people of high ability and diverse background to enter and remain in K–12 teaching.

2. Teaching Tolerance Grants
Teaching Tolerance offers grants of up to $10,000 to schools and districts that are undertaking projects to equalize students’ experiences in schools and promote social justice. For More Information: Visit www.tolerance.org.

3. Target the Arts
School art programs can receive up to $3,000 from Target’s Art Grants. The money is intended to increase students’ participation in cultural experiences, whether through field trips, artist-in-residence programs, workshops, or other interactive means.

4. Reward a Successful Principal
High-poverty middle or high schools that are showing significant improvements in test scores may qualify as one of MetLife-NASSP’s Breakthrough Schools. Each designated school will receive a $5,000 grant and be featured in Principal Leadership, the magazine of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

5. Money for Summer PD
Your teachers, classroom support, and other school staff can qualify for funds to participate in professional development programs, such as summer institutes or action research. The NEA’s Learning and Leadership Grants provide $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for professional groups.

6. Food for Thought

A School In-Service Training Grant from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics pays up to $4,000 per school to improve math instruction. The money can be used to cover expenses for consultants
