Learn About ABOTA

A group of attorneys began the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 1958 with the goal of preserving the right to trial by jury as guaranteed by the Seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution. Membership in this organization is by invitation only to trial attorneys who have demonstrated excellent trial skills while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, honor, and courtesy. The ABOTA National Office, Executive Director, and staff are based in Dallas, Texas.

The Foundation of the American Board of Trial Advocates was established in 1993. The mission of the Foundation is to support the American Board of Trial Advocate’s goals by educating the American public on the history and value of the right to trial by jury. The Foundation also hosts educational seminars designed to strengthen advocacy skills and professionalism.
