Goosebumps PhotoShock
Scholastic iPhone application
Ages: 8 to 12
Review by Daniela Bond
"Goosebumps PhotoShock" is a great game for either your iPhone or iPod Touch.
In this game, you can turn a regular picture into a spooky image. You can also decorate a blank background. The game offers different stickers and backgrounds to choose from.
The categories include Creepy Companions and Monster Mash. You can save your creepy creation or email it to your friends.
If you need help, you can touch the help icon for guidance.
This game lets you be creative and use your imagination. I would recommend it to a friend, because you can express yourself. This game was fun and really grabbed my attention.

WordGirl Word Hunt
Scholastic iPhone application
Ages: 6 to 12
Review by Daniela Bond
"WordGirl Word Hunt" is an easy-to-learn game.
First, an announcer gives you the plot and three words. You must choose which word is an action that should follow.
For example, if the announcer says run, jump, or walk, you choose which is the best action that should happen next based in the storyline.
Next, you tilt your iPhone or iPod Touch to help WordGirl soar through the sky.
I learned many new words from this game. I thought it was fun and it captured my attention while playing it. I loved playing this game because there was a different situation where WordGirl needed your help every time.
I would recommend this game to a friend because you learn and you have fun at the same time.

Clifford's BE BIG With Words
Scholastic iPhone Application
Ages: 4 and over
Review by Mariam El Hasan
It sure is a great time to be a kid! Playing the new "Clifford's BE BIG With Words" spelling game on my iPod Touch was a real treat. It makes learning how to spell as easy as p-i-e!
The object of the game is to spell three-letter words while Clifford gives encouragement to the player.
First, you choose letters from Jetta's colorful paint palette. Then, you drag and drop the letters to form a three-letter word. Numerous combinations can be made (115 words to be exact).
Next, Clifford says the words aloud. As a reward for successfully spelling a word, Jetta paints a picture of the word onto her canvas.
It's a very engaging and interactive learning tool. I wish this had been available when I was first learning how to spell three-letter words.
Kids can play this game on their parents' iPhones or iPods, while in the car or while waiting at their sister's soccer practice (like I did!). I think this is a great game and learning device and would highly recommend it to kids who are learning how to read and write!

The 39 Clues Madrigal Maze
Scholastic iPhone Application
Ages: 9 and over
Review by Mariam El Hasan
"The 39 Clues Madrigals Maze" iPhone application is based on the best-selling The 39 Clues book series. The object of the game is to pass through 39 mazes and become a member of a top-secret organization.
It may sound simple, but it's not. To succeed you must overcome many challenging obstacles and demonstrate that you are worthy of becoming a Madrigal.
To play well, you must come up with a strategy to get to the next level. Once you start playing, you can't put it down. By the way, even though you have to put some thought into this game, the instructions are easy to follow.
I am obsessed with The 39 Clues book series and this added another layer to my infatuation. However, you don't need to have read the books to play the game.
I would highly recommend this game to any friend who owns an iPhone or iPod Touch.

I SPY Riddle Race and I SPY Spooky Mansion
Scholastic iPhone Application
Age Range: All Ages
Review by Michael Geheren
I used to come home every day from school looking forward to playing the I SPY board game. I probably played that game more than a thousand times. Now, Scholastic has come out with a new, even more fun version of the game for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Scholastic released two I SPY games: "I SPY Riddle Race" and "I SPY Spooky Mansion." Both of these games are tons of fun AND a little challenging.
"Riddle Race" gives you 10 minutes to play one game. The first things I had to find during that time period were: a rope, the number 1, the number 2, a ring, and a leaf. (I could not find the leaf.)
In "I SPY Spooky Mansion" you have to find seven clues hidden in the mansion. To find the clues you have to complete up to 21 I SPY puzzles. The game is similar to the computer game and features a narrator to help little kids find the items, too.
Some cool features with both of these games are that you can zoom in up to 300 times on the game board to find microscopic objects. Another cool feature is the chance to play with your friends because you can save high scores under your name.
I would recommend this game for long or short car trips, or any time you need to kill some time. It is tons of fun and can keep you occupied for hours—or just 10 minutes!
