Tidal Waves

The following questions were answered by meteorologist Al Peterlin.

Q: What causes tidal waves?
A: Tides or tidal waves occur because of the sun and the moon (especially the moon) exerting pull (or gravity) on the ocean water, causing it to fall and rise on a regular schedule. It is so much like clockwork, that there are schedules written for different areas of the world and published years in advance. (Al Peterlin)
