Alice Walker

Alice Walker is deeply committed to social change and is an advocate for civil rights, women's equality, nuclear disarmament, animal rights and environmental issues.

Alice wrote the extraordinary novel, The Color Purple, for which she won the Pulitzer. She is a poet (her books of poetry include Horses Make A Landscape Look More Beautiful and Revolutionary Petunias), a short story writer, a biographer, a children's book author, an essayist, and a novelist. Alice was born in Eatonton, Georgia and graduated from Sarah Lawrence College.
