Senator Carol Moseley-Braun

Carol Moseley-Braun is the first African-American woman to be elected to the United States Senate.

After attending public schools in Chicago, she received her law degree from the University of Chicago and served three years as a prosecutor in the Office of the U.S. Attorney. She was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives. As a Senator she is the first African-American to serve as Assistant Majority Leader. Carol, a dynamic speaker, has an unwavering commitment to equal rights and justice for all members of our society.
