'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
So begins "Jabberwocky," one of the most celebrated nonsense poems in the English language. The poem first appeared in 1872 in Lewis Carroll's classic Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, and since then, its mysterious and lyrical lines have delighted readers of all ages.
