A sequel to:
The Divide, by Elizabeh Kay
Felix had to go back across the Divide if he was to have any chance of saving his parents' lives, and turning them from marble statues back into living, breathing human beings.
Felix knew he had no choicehe had to go back across The Divide. Snakeweed, the evil japegrin who'd followed him into the real world, had turned his parents into marble statues, and the counterspell to turn them back into humans didn't exist in Felix's world, only in Snakeweed's.
But the world on the other side of The Divide has changed since Felix left it. The kind and queen are gone, and Fleabane, another evil japegrin, has set himself up as President, and is living in the palace in Andria. He's far worse than Snakeweed, and has big ideas, an even bigger temper, and a huge hunger for power. He's even suspended an incendiary spell over the library because the librarians and historians don't agree with his ideas, and there are triple heads guarding the library doors so no one can get in or out. The world seems darker, more angry, less happy. Fleabane has set up curfews and roadblocks on every street leading out of Andria. The tangle-folk have been forcibly relocated miles away, and no one has any idea where the king and queen are. And it isn't long before Felix discovers that the spell Snakebread put on his parents is no ordinary spell, but a chain reaction spell that only the most skilled of sorcerers can break. No only that, any living creature that comes in contact with Felix's parents will also turn to stone, including ants, snails, birds, not to mention people! Magic has been released into a world that doesn't believe in it, and there's no way to know how much damage it can cause.
Felix has a lot to do! He has to rescue Betony and Thornbeak from the library, find the king and queen, locate a sorcerer who is willing to help him, get a counterspell for his parents, defeat Snakebread and Fleabane, and last but certainly not least, get back to his own world and stop the chain reaction magic before anyone finds out that it exists.
Step across The Divide once again, and join Felix and his friends Betony, Ironclaw, Thornbeak, Turpsik, Granitelegs, the inimitable Fuzzy, and a whole world of others, in a journey full of twists and turns, births and deaths, dangers and daring deeds, not to mention a real, honest to goodness, top of the line flying carpet!
