By Lisa Yee

Lisa Yee has been an inventor, a hand model, and was once paid to eat chocolate. She's been part of the Official Olympic Committee Torch Run Caravan (until the police requested that she leave). And has the second largest collection of Winnie-the-Poohs in America.

Lisa's writing assignments have included cans of refried beans, a speech for a President of the United States, and television specials for Disney.

With the publication of Millicent Min, Girl Genius, Lisa has realized her lifelong dream of becoming an author. In 2004, Lisa was named the first recipient of the prestigious Sid Fleischman Humor Award. Stanford Wong Flunks Big, her second novel for Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic, has been named an ALA Notable Book. It chronicles the same summer as Millicent's novel, only from her enemy's point of view. In 2007, So Totally Emily Ebers, completed  the Millicent Min trilogy. Absolutely Maybe, the story of Maybelline Chestnut's quest for her real dad, a new life...and a really great taco, marks her young adult debut.

Lisa's books have also been named a Bank Street Book of the Year, IRA Children's Choice Award, CCBC Choice Award, and nominated for multiple state awards.

Her informative and entertaining presentations cover the amazing, strange, and sometimes painful (ouch!) steps it takes to create a bestselling book, a lively reading with an assist from an unsuspecting audience member, the secret to successful writing, and Q & As.

    Millicent Min, Girl Genius

    by Lisa Yee

Millicent Kwan is having a bad summer. Her fellow high school students hate her for setting the curve. Her fellow 11-year-olds hate her for going to high school. And her mother has arranged for her to tutor Stanford Wong, the poster boy for Chinese geekdom. But then Millie meets Emily. Emily doesn't know Millicent's IQ score. She actually thinks Millie is cool. And if Millie can hide her awards, ignore her grandmother's advice, swear her parents to silence, blackmail Stanford, and keep all her lies straight, she just might make her first friend. What's it going to take? Sheer genius.

    Millicent Min, Girl Genius

    by Lisa Yee

The 11-year-old genius narrator of this energetic first novel has problems. Her common sense hasn't caught up with her clever brain! Millie's unique personality is a blend of rationality and naivete, and even if readers can't relate to her mastery of Latin, most will readily follow as Millie struggles through "a world where she's smarter than everyone but still sometimes clueless." - Booklist Includes AFTER WORDS bonus features
