Marcia Thornton Jones is a veteran elementary teacher and gifted/talented resource specialist as well as the author of the beginning chapter book Godzilla Ate My Homework, the middle grade novel Champ, and Jack Frost, a picture book. She is also the co-author, with Debbie Dadey, of the popular series The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids, Bailey School Kids Junior Chapter Books, Ghostville Elementary, Bailey City Monsters, Triplet Trouble, and Barkley School for Dogs. As a former teacher and best-selling author Marcia easily relates the importance of writing to students and teachers. During her lively and entertaining presentations, students participate in the five step writing process by brainstorming ideas, developing characters, and drafting stories. She emphasizes the importance of revising and editing by sharing personal experiences along with strategies that work with young writers. She relates her own practices to the writing experiences students often have in the classroom. Marcia also enjoys working with teachers to help develop practical classroom writing programs.
