Author Visit Kit

By Susan Campbell Bartoletti

If Susan Campbell Bartoletti hadn't become a teacher, she might never have become a children’s book author. "My students helped me find my audience," she said. "They have clearly enriched my work and helped me see that everyday, ordinary kids are living extraordinary lives."

A former 8th grade English teacher with eighteen years classroom experience, Ms. Bartoletti is an award-winning author of picture books, novels, and nonfiction. She has developed slide-show presentations and workshops for students, teachers, librarians, and parents. During these presentations she discusses the writing process: the magic that turns readers into believers, spins ideas into stories, casts people into characters, and transforms research into fiction and nonfiction. She speaks to large and small groups. Her equipment needs include a slide projector and if speaking to a large group, a microphone.

Maximum number of presentations per day: 3
Suggested Audience: K-12
Honorarium: $1,600-2,000 per day, plus expenses depending on event.
