Deborah Lee Rose is the internationally published author of Into the A, B, Sea (N.Y. Public Library's annual "100 Children's Books to Read and Share") and its companion book, One Nighttime Sea. Her environmental folktale, The People Who Hugged the Trees, has been published in nearly a dozen languages and included in major U.S. and Canadian language arts anthologies.
Weaving themes of the environment and family, Deborah's books such as Birthday Zoo appeal to readers across many ages and cultures. She is at ease and experienced at addressing audiences of any size. Her presentations can include reading from her books, talking about inspiration, research, strong words and phrasing, and exploring the publishing process from idea to final book. A professional writer and editor, she especially enjoys introducing audiences to her favorite writer — Charlotte, the spider in Charlotte's Web. "Not only does Charlotte love words and take the time to explain them," Deborah says, "she understands that words can be very powerful. They can teach, surprise, entertain, convince, and even save a life."
