The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses Extension Activities
Labeling People
It is possible that some students in class will refer to Native Americans as Indians. Tell the class that such labels are often a controversial topic even among the people belonging to the culture. Print the two labels on a blackboard. Ask the class to tell what they know about each label. If possible, invite a Native American person to visit your class to discuss the origin of each label and importance of being sensitive to such labels.
