Stay Fire Smart Don't Get Burned
Grade K-2 Lessons on Fire Safety and Burn Prevention
In honor of Fire Prevention Week (October 4–10, 2009), NFPA and Scholastic are sending me, Sparky the Fire Dog®, on a mission to the moon to explore its plains, valleys, mountains, and craters. Along with my friends the Space Dogs, I’ll have fun, wacky adventures, but I’ll also help teach important fire-safety lessons and improve core reading and science skills. Zoom to the moon with me today—and keep the learning going throughout the year!
Lesson Plans
LESSON 1: HOT, NOT, OR SILLY
Help students recognize the difference between "hot" and "not hot" to keep them safe from burns.
LESSON 2: MAKE YOUR OWN COMIC STORY
Students practice and build sequencing skills as they put together their own comic story.
