Loreen Leedy

Biography

Loreen Leedy was drawn to books as a young girl. She always enjoyed drawing, reading and writing. But her special art technique of making whimsical animals is what drew her into creating children's books.

Leedy started making animal jewelry out of polymer clay and after several years these crafty creations became characters in the pages of her own books. Today Leedy also uses computer technology to create her illustrations, this style is seen in her newest book, co-authored with Pat Street, There's A Frog in My Throat!, which leads readers on a frolicking retelling of animal expressions that will delight readers. Leedy has also written books on the subjects of Math, Science, Social Studies and crafts.

With all her books, Leedy has a talent for presenting stories that not only entertain children but offer instructional information to educate them as well. In her book, The Furry News: How to Make a Newspaper, a bear takes children through the process of how newspapers are created. While children enjoy the story they take away a better understanding of the specialized process of creating a newspaper!

Leedy lives in Florida and when she is not writing and illustrating books she enjoys exercising, traveling and exploring the shelves at the local library.
