Gerald Hausman

Biography

Gerald Hausman is a multi-cultural storyteller who gathers and tells stories worldwide. In his school visits he includes a wide range of topics from writing as a career to American Indian mythology and from dogs ot the Titanic to Great Danes in his own house. While telling tales of pirates and mermaids, Gerald was a special guest on the History Channel’s “Haunted Caribbean” program. He also spoke about gathering Native American Stories on NPR.

Hausman’s sound effects – creaking doors, songbirds, growling dogs, frogs of all kinds, horses, elephants, shipwrecks, winds and waves, and things that go bump in the night – have been recorded on five audio books and have earned praise from humorist Dave Barry, who said, “… Gerry does great growls!” Hausman’s workshops have been appreciated by Fred Rogers (Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood) when he said, “Your students are indeed fortunate to have someone in their midst who can communicate enthusiasm for learning – the greatest lesson a school can ever teach.”
