Cyd Moore
Biography
Cyd began training for a career in children's books as a small child in southern Georgia. She says Dr. Seuss was her first art teacher. “The dog party at the end of “Go Dog, Go,” she admits, “is absolutely one of the best images from my childhood....it's burned in my brain forever!”
After getting a BFA from the University of Georgia with a concentration on graphic design, Cyd worked in television, newspaper publishing, and advertising. Her work has won many design, advertising, and illustration awards, including publication in the Communication Arts Illustration Annual and Print Regional Design Annual. Her illustrations have appeared in many national magazines, on records and CD's, games, greeting cards, children's books, and ad campaigns, like Burger King and McDonald's Happy Meal boxes.
When listing Cyd's accomplishments, the most challenging one so far must be included: Picturebook, the artist directory and website targeted to the children's book market. Since it's launch in 1997, Picturebook has become one of the most respected and highly recognized sources used by the publishing industry for finding new and established illustration talent.
Cyd's work in children's books, including Alice and Greta, I Love You, Stinky Face, and Good Night, Princess Pruney Toes remains her most favorite job of all. Her infectious enthusiasm, whimsical artwork and charming storytelling make her a favorite for conferences, school visits, and other programs.
Cyd Moore currently lives in Beverly Hills, Michigan with her family.
