MATERIALS
Culminating Activity Printable: Journalists of the Past! (PDF)
DIRECTIONS
1. Distribute the Journalists of the Past (PDF) to students.
2. Have students pick partners.
3. Students will then choose a topic (a person, place, or event) from the Great Depression.
4. Instruct students to use their local or school library, the Internet, or classroom materials to research their topic. Have them take notes using the student printable (instruct them to use the back if they run out of room).
5. On the back of the student printable or on a separate sheet of paper, have students sketch an illustration or attach a photo to accompany their article.
6. Once students have gathered the facts on their topic, have them write a one-page newspaper article. Remind students that their article must include a headline and a lead paragraph, in addition to the body.
