Bean Counting

Counting, sorting, separating, and noticing patterns — these are basic math skills. Have fun with this hands-on sorting project. Gather a pile or bag of dried beans in different colors. On a piece of graph paper, have your child arrange the beans by size or color. Let him separate them into different patterns, using the graph paper’s squares as a guide.
