Size Words: Learning Long and Short

Set out longer and shorter versions of the same object, such as a new candle and a burned-down one, a nearly-used-up pencil and a fresh one, or long and short pieces of string. Have your child pick out which is short and which is long. Teach her what other measurement words match “long” and “short,” such as “big” and “small.”
