Touch and Learn

Resist the urge to keep your child from touching things that might be icky or dirty; his hands are his main scientific learning tool. So while at the park or on a walk or just in your yard, encourage him to touch the textures present in nature. Invite him to feel the grass and pick up pinecones, or feel rough gravel as opposed to smooth stones.
