Use Photos as Character Inspiration

To help your child create a good protagonist for a story, let her flip through a magazine for inspiration. Coach her to write a conversation that the person in the picture might have with someone very different. What would a 90-year-old farmer talk about with a young soccer player? This can spark interesting dialogue, creating a "wow" kind of story!
