Kate McMullan, a former teacher, loves visiting schools and talking with students from pre-school through fifth grade. Kate teamed up with her illustrator husband, Jim McMullan, to create a series of talking vehicle books, including I'm Dirty!, I'm Fast!, I'm Mighty!, and I Stink!, a monolog by a garbage truck, which won a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of 2002, a Horn Book Honor, and Bank Street's Irma S. & James H. Black Honor. Fall 2014 will see the publication of I'm Brave!, starring a fire truck. Kate’s Pearl and Wagner: One Funny Day, for new readers, received a Geisel Honor. Her Dragon Slayers’ Academy chapter book series has sold over 3 million copies, and her laugh-out-loud funny Myth-O-Mania books for fourth and fifth graders feature the Greek myths as retold by Hades.
